Data Collection & Inquiries
This website does not require user accounts, logins, or contact forms, and sets no cookies. If you reach out directly via email, your information is used solely to respond to your message and is never sold, rented, or distributed.
Hosting & Infrastructure
This website is statically generated and hosted on Netlify (opens in a new tab). Netlify processes standard web-server request data (such as IP addresses and request logs) to deliver and protect the site; see the Netlify Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) for details. The source code is kept in a GitHub repository.
Cookies & Analytics
This site sets no cookies and uses no advertising or marketing trackers. To understand which pages and publications are read, I measure visits with Umami (opens in a new tab), a privacy-focused analytics service:
- What is recorded: the page visited, the referring website, campaign parameters in the link (
utm_source,utm_medium, for example from a link in a CV), browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and country, and clicks on downloads, DOI links and other outbound links - How visitors are counted: without cookies or other storage on your device. Umami derives an anonymous identifier from a hash of your IP address, browser user agent and a salt that changes every month, so visits cannot be linked across months or across websites. Your IP address is used only to determine your country and is not stored
- Where the data goes: requests pass through this site’s own address and are forwarded to Umami Cloud (servers in the EU and the US). The data is used only for aggregate statistics about this website; it is not shared, sold or combined with other data
- How long it is kept: 6 months
- Legal basis: my legitimate interest in understanding how this website is used (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR)
- Opting out: browsers that block tracking scripts are not counted. You can also exclude your browser on the analytics opt-out page
